If you want to sell Medicare and/or individual and family plans, you are likely going to need to work with an NMO. Today, most carriers require agents to contract under a National Marketing Organizations (NMO). An NMO’s job is to recruit, train & support agents to sell various insurance products. You get paid by the carrier when you sell a plan; and then the carrier also separately compensates your NMO.
Keep in mind that all NMOs are not created equally, and neither is the support they provide! The right NMO/FMO partner can significantly impact your future sales. NMO/FMOs get paid by the carriers to support agents in selling the insurance products they offer. In theory, no NMO/FMO should charge a partner for service or support.
